28th
May, 2001
NEWS FLASH !!! Well, nearly . . .
AICF releasing results of 2001 Masters' National Championships
. . . . eventually.
Here
we go again - it's late evening, Monday, May 28th. The Australian
Masters Championships finished Saturday 26th May. . . and
the official results (on the Australian Indoor Cricket Federation's
website) still only show results up until (but not including)
last Thursday !!! The grand finals have been played, the Australian
sides have been chosen and announced . . . and most of the players
have left Townsville and arrived home - but according to the AICF
results page, there are still three days of competition to go.
If we'd known there were no electronic communications on the east
coast, we'd have arranged to publish results as they happened,
like we did for the South African World Cup - but hey, we thought
it a forgone conclusion that the promotional arm of the AICF would
have done the right thing by the rest of Australia and done so
themselves. You'd think we'd have learned by now . . .
Yet again the promotion of the game is treated with alarming indifference,
and the players and supporters around the country are treated
with contempt.
There have been rumours for some time that some in the upper echelons
of the AICF don't whole-heartedly support the continuation of
the Lords Taverners competition - perhaps the AICF no longer
sees the Masters Championships as important either. We know
they say they do . . . .
Or maybe it's the players and supporters around the country who
aren't important to the AICF. We can't really answer these questions
of course - if you'd like them answered, we simply suggest you
ask the AICF itself. You could try emailing them at aicf@bigpond.com
, but after their efforts in electronic communications this week,
perhap snail-mail may be more appropriate:

Good luck . . . .
